Software/System Architect must have extensive experience in the coordination of
program and project leaders to identify requirements for system architecture.
Must be able to identify strategies for addressing requirements. Must have
extensive experience with analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule,
and performance issues. Has extensive experience in taking program requirements
and can create an architecture vision having experience in high volume and high
availability networks and systems.
Experience in creating and conveying to team members the architectural
vision for a program or project. Is
responsible for dictating design choices to software developers, including but
not limited to: platforms, coding and technical levels. Experience in
establishing and enforcing standards and practices.
Master's Degree with 10 years or
10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
10 years’ experience with Data
Domain, NetBackup including working knowledge of Versions 7.x and 8.x and the
extensive use of specialized agents employed in the data protection of MS Exchange, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Infoscale, OCA, DPA, DDFS, DD Boost,
Enterprise Apps and MS SharePoint.
Responsible for designing,
creating and monitoring the implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
Reviews new and existing system designs and make recommendations for improving
or altering the systems for hardware and software installation, configuration,
and maintenance in the support of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) systems
and applications and SAN environment.
Responsible for maintaining
knowledge and compliance with all application/hardware policy and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring Division
Disaster Recovery Procedures are current and vetted annually. Aids Division
management to ensure systems, applications, and processes are fully compliant
with applicable policies. Aids management in develop of policy and procedures
to support Division Operations.
Is a technical authority and
expert in system’s hardware software, design, and support for the Division’s
short and long-range I.T. activities and goals?
Identifies and recommends
technical solutions based on business requirements, industry standards, and
system growth and future capacity requirements.
Ensures appropriate controls and
testing of technology components, including verifying requirements and design
objectives are met.
Coordinates and assists in
systems planning with vendors, project managers, and higher-level management
Coordinates the planning for
systems hardware, software, and maintenance acquisitions, including complex and
sophisticated systems involving multiple office and agency activities; and
Analyzes capabilities, features,
integration feasibility and provides documentation to management for use in
acquisition of hardware, software, and support systems; and
Coordinates, instructs, and
guides Division in development, migration, and operation of systems hardware,
related software, network configurations, data protection policy and
procedures, processing services, post installation performance; standard
operating procedures; and
Develops, tests, and maintains
system scripts, drawings, procedures, and component inventories; and
Provides Tier 4 level
troubleshooting and system analysis for issues elevated by the Division’s Level
3 technical staff.
Develops operational and
maintenance tasks and assignments for multiple shifts, ensuring applicable Team
Leads, Systems Engineers/Administrators, and their delegates are trained and
capable performing assignments.
Augments and performs duties of
Division’s Functional Area, Experts during personnel absences, thus maintaining
lines of communications and task assignments.
Provides technical expertise,
application support, training, guidance, and written proposals that may include
application products from Vendors such as Veritas, Commvault, EMC, IBM,
Innovation Data Processing, Rocket, and other applications designed for data
Provide system support, training,
guidance, and written proposals that may include hardware products such as
Enterprise Class Tape Libraries & Disk Arrays, Storage Area Networks, Data
Protection and Report Servers, Mainframe Data Protection Peripherals, Media Destruction
Develops training plans, material
and briefings on systems hardware, software, and technological advances.
Develops team assignments and
coordinates project activity of shift personnel to align with division
management and organizational priorities.
Maintains an in depth
understanding of Oracle /SQL databases and ESX virtual infrastructure data
Experience in the migration of
other enterprise data protection solutions such as TSM, CommVault, Avamar.
Experience with the use and
deployment of Enterprise Storage targets to include, but not limited to EMC
DataDomain, Enterprise Tape Libraries, and Data Protection Appliances.
Background in all aspects of
Systems Administration including Linux, Solaris, HP UX, AIX, and Windows
Experienced in storage
administration of enterprise storage configurations manufactured by OEMs such
as HITACHI, EMC, IBM, Dell, and Oracle.
